Abraham Lincoln marries Mary Todd

I often write of people I would like to have a chat with……over tea, dinner, or just a stroll along a quiet path. Lincoln is one of them; but Mary, in her own right, was quite a piece of work. I don’t mean that in a negative way; Mary has been the object of criticism in the pages of history. Tormented by demons, both emotional and physical, Mary had her own battle, not a battle to divide a country; but perhaps a battle to divide a marriage and her own soul.
Who can judge a mother’s grief……
Does anyone know the depth of a sword plunged into a mother’s heart until they have felt it…….
Mary was criticized for her spending; but not many know all the countless hours she spent comforting the wounded ….. she did not do this for publicity…
